Robusta is a very varied bean when produced correctly; each region produces robusta with unique characteristics, highlighting the significance of terroir in coffee production. Grown in the middle highlands, where higher elevation produces more complex flavours, these are of the greatest quality. Compared to arabica beans, robusta beans have 60% less sugar and fat but more caffeine. Tasting notes could be earthy, nutty, and chocolate-y.
